ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The director of Steel Magnolias Amina Mcintyre came into the studio to talk about turning this film into a stage play featuring some African American cast members.
Amina wanted to keep putting African Americans in this rural southern life, instead of focusing them in these urban spaces, where women want to get their hair done.
She also speaks on this element of mortality and how women are very soft magnolias and also hard as steel which means no matter what you go through in life you can still be very strong and powerful in your life, said Amina.
Some of the actresses featured in the play are Michelle Renee Bright, India Busey, Azaria Carter, Irene Pope, and Greta Glen, just to name a few. The play will be in theatres from May 5 through May 14.
