ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but just because you can chow down on turkey and side dishes galore doesn’t mean your pets can!
Tiki Artist with Lifeline Animal Project came to Atlanta News First to talk about pet safety during the holiday. You should avoid feeding your pets fatty foods like turkey skin and gravy, she said. Even vegetables could be poisonous!
The organization is also hosting several free adoption events. Today, the first 50 pets adopted at its Midtown shelter off Howell Mill Road are free. All Lifeline Animal Project shelters will also offer free Black Friday adoptions from Nov. 24 to Nov. 27.

The organization needs to find homes for 400 animals as it closes one shelter and opens another, Artist said. You can learn how to adopt, foster or donate at Lifeline Animal Project’s website here.
