ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - First premiering on Broadway in 1975, “The Wiz” instantly took off, even winning seven Tony Awards. In 2024, it will return to Broadway for the first time in decades — but not before stopping in cities like Atlanta first.
Actor Olivia Jackson came to Atlanta News First to talk about the show. It’s a twist on the classic movie “The Wizard of Oz,” with a diverse score featuring soul, gospel, rock and ‘70s funk music.
