ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Studies show that January is the month when people feel the loneliest, especially Gen Z.
According to a Beta Lab report, today’s young adults have 1,000 fewer hours of in-person connection time a year.
That’s why the dating app Hinge is combatting the “epidemic of loneliness” by adding a “One More Hour” initiative.
Hinge’s director of social impact, Josh Penny, joined us on Atlanta News First to tell us how it will work. The company is working with DoSomething Strategic and the Foundation for Social Connection, along with a panel of young adults, to identify and select groups for the $1 million fund.
Hinge is hosting an open call to 501(c)3 or fiscally sponsored organizations in Atlanta to apply for grants from $10,000 to $25,000 each. Applications open on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at hinge.co/onemorehour and close on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024.
