ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Wednesday marks National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day — and the numbers may surprise you. In 2021, more than 39,000 people were living with HIV in Atlanta, according to data from AIDSVu.

Randevyn Piérre, director of external affairs and community liaisons at ViiV Healthcare, came to Atlanta News First to talk about the company’s initiatives. “Risk to Reasons,” for instance, is a series of workbooks that reframes the “risk” of HIV as “reasons” to prioritize prevention and care for Black women, who are disproportionally affected by HIV.
