ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - After four years of comedic adventure, Dr. Dawnn Lewis is saying goodbye to her role as Carol Freeman on “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” The adult animated series set in the Star Trek universe is entering its fifth and final season this month.
Lewis describes the show as “the ‘Everyman’ version” of all the other Star Trek series.
“I think every average person sees themselves in one of our characters,” Lewis told Atlanta News First. “That they mean well, they don’t always get it right. But when you do it together, all things are possible.”
The actress also voices characters on “The Simpsons” and “Futurama,” adding to her decades-long career playing memorable roles.
Lewis also has a nonprofit organization that will continue to keep her busy. Founded in 2017, “A New Day Foundation” is a mentorship program designed to create safe spaces for teenagers. You can visit its website here.
