ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Atlanta Braves and Make-A-Wish Foundation teamed up Friday to make a young Braves fan’s wish come true.
Owen Kincaid, a 14-year-old from Buchanan, Georgia, has a hypoplastic left heart; the left side of his heart did not fully develop.
There is no cure, but treatment can buy time until a patient receives a heart transplant.
“We are living in days we weren’t sure would come. There were definitely those times. So to be in them and living them, it is truly a blessing,” said Owen’s mother, Casey Kincaid.
Owen was able to meet Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider, who chatted with him and signed his baseball card.

“I’m excited. I’ve been waiting,” Owen said. “Last night, I couldn’t fall asleep, I was so excited.”

Kincaid also got to meet Philadelphia Phillies first baseman and 2-time National League MVP Bryce Harper, who’s been out since early June with a wrist injury. But he still gave Kincaid his time, signing autographs and taking photos.
Kincaid was then able to head into the Braves clubhouse to meet more players, including his favorite, Ronald Acuña Jr.
The teen has channeled his love for baseball onto the field. He tried out for and made an 8th-grade baseball team; he will play second base on one squad and be an assistant coach on another.
The Braves open a three-game series against the Phillies at Truist Park on Friday.
