Three Braves legends to throw ceremonial first pitch during All-Star Game; MLB to honor Hank Aaron

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta Braves legends Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones and Andrés Galarraga - who were All-Stars the last time Atlanta hosted the All-Star Game in 2000 - will throw out the ceremonial first pitch during Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Truist Park.

Chipper Jones spent 19 seasons (1993-2012) with the Braves, earning eight All-Star nominations, the 1999 NL MVP, a batting title and was a member of the 1999 World Series champion Braves team. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.

Andruw Jones spent 12 seasons with Atlanta, recording over 1,500 hits and 350 home runs with the Braves. He was a five-time All-Star and a 10-time Gold Glove center fielder, all in which he earned during his time in Atlanta. Andruw is right on the cusp of being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, earning 66.2% of the required 75% needed from the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) for induction during the 2025 Major League Baseball (MLB) Hall of Fame vote.

Galarraga spent two seasons with the Braves, but earned an All-Star nod in both seasons and was a two-time Gold Glove award winner during his 19-year career.

MLB to honor Hank Aaron

Those three won’t be the only Braves legends honored during the All-Star Game.

MLB will pay tribute to the legendary Hank Aaron’s historic 715th home run — which he hit on April 8, 1974, at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium — by using projection mapping and custom pyrotechnics. Coincidentally, the All-Star Game is being played on July 15 (7/15).

Aaron spent 21 seasons with the Braves organization, earning 24 All-Star Game nominations (there were two All-Star Games per year from 1959-1962), the 1957 NL MVP and over 3,000 hits and 755 home runs, which was a record until Barry Bonds surpassed that total in 2001.

The moment will air live on FOX.
