Newton County Sheriff’s Office sponsors back-to-school supplies drive Deputies Michael Greg, Tim Smith and Kim Cox came to Atlanta News First to talk about the department’s “Fill the Bus” campaign.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - As the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year approaches, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office is holding a school supplies drive!

Deputies Michael Greg, Tim Smith and Kim Cox came to Atlanta News First to talk about the department’s “Fill the Bus” campaign. They said the effort is part of the sheriff’s office’s Deputies Who Care program, which has been supporting the community through multiple events for 14 years.

It’s that time of the year again, Newton County! Join the Newton County Sheriff’s Office for the 14th Annual Fill the Bus event. 🚌 We’re collecting monetary and school supply donations to support the Back to School Supply Giveaway, and we need your help to make it a success! 📍 Donation Location: Walmart Supercenter 4200 Salem Road, Covington, GA 30016 📅 Donation Dates & Times: July 11–13, 2025 | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM July 18–20, 2025 | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monetary donations accepted to the "Deputies Who Care Fund" at www.newtonsheriffga.org. You can donate school supplies from Friday, July 18, through Sunday, July 20, at the Walmart Supercenter on Salem Road in Covington. Donation hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
