ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - In about a week, the Atlanta Braves will participate in the first-ever Major League Baseball (MLB) Speedway Classic - going head-to-head with the Cincinnati Reds at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 2.

On Monday, MLB unveiled the special uniforms the two teams will wear in the history-making matchup. According to the league, the uniforms include accents to existing jerseys and special designs on the cap visors and batting helmets.

Both jerseys, crafted by Nike, stay true to the looks of both teams while adding some slight touches that connect to the racing world.

“The core uniforms remain classic with custom numbers on the jersey backs complemented by specially designed caps and helmets that bring a fresh look and pay tribute to motorsport design,” MLB said.

The jersey numbers take inspiration from racecar numbers, with bold outlines, shadowing and movement that mimic the iconic car designs, with each team’s colors making the numbers unique to their uniform.

MLB says the caps, which are designed by official league cap maker, New Era Cap, “designed each team’s caps to similarly reflect the motorsport theme.” For the Braves cap, flames are featured on the top of the visor, while the Reds cap will have checked flags across its visor.

In a first-time move by the league, Rawlings has made custom-designed helmets for the teams that are inspired by NASCAR helmet designs. The club-branded helmets will feature race-style player numbers, speed-inspired wordmarks and checkered flag emblems that connect back to each team’s identity.

MLB confirmed that the uniforms, as well as the Bristol Motor Speedway, located in Bristol, CT., will be available for fans to play with in the MLB The Show 25 console video game.

“The core uniforms remain familiar, but the added touches reflect the adrenaline, spectacle, and crossover appeal of this unique game,” MLB officials said.

Both the caps and jerseys are available now on MLBShop.com and the Fanatics network of sites, as well as the Braves Clubhouse Store at Truist Park. NewEraCap.com will offer both official game caps and a wide selection of non-game caps that celebrate the game. Jerseys and fan wear apparel representing the Speedway Classic are also available on Nike.com.
