Braves’ Matt Olson, Nick Allen named Gold Glove finalists

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A pair of Atlanta Braves are up for the National League Gold Glove award after being named finalists by Rawlings on Wednesday.

Braves’ Matt Olson, Philadelphia Phillies’ Bryce Harper and Cincinnati Reds’ Spencer Steer were listed as the three first base NL Gold Glove finalists, while Braves’ Nick Allen, Los Angeles Dodgers’ Mookie Betts and St. Louis Cardinals’ Masyn Winn are the three NL shortstop finalists.

The winners will be revealed Nov. 2.

Olson, who won back-to-back Gold Glove awards with Oakland from 2018-19, is up for his third award that honors the best defensive player at each position in each league. Olson was nominated as a finalist last season, but he lost the award to Christian Walker.

Allen, who lost his job as starting shortstop to Ha-Seong Kim in September, was excellent defensively all season and has a good case for his first Gold Glove award and the team’s first since Dansby Swanson in 2022.

Southpaw Chris Sale was the lone Brave to win a Gold Glove award in 2024.

The Braves tied with the Texas Rangers for best fielding percentage (.991) during the regular season and had the second fewest errors (54) in all of baseball. An overwhelming favorite for the award, Olson’s 17 defensive runs saved (DRS) leads the league by a large margin, with Steer and Toronto Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guererro Jr. tied for second with 8 DRS.

Olson rounded out his 2025 campaign with a .272/.366/.484 slash line and 29 home runs, solidifying any argument that he isn’t one of the most complete players in all of baseball. He played all 162 games once again and was tabbed the 2025 Brave of the Year.

The Braves haven’t had multiple Gold Glove winners since 2022, when Swanson and starting pitcher Max Fried won the awards.
