ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Georgia Tech is celebrating homecoming this weekend, and they get to do so with an undefeated football team.
The Yellow Jackets are ranked 7-0 for the first time since 1966 and ranked No. 7 in the AP Top 25 poll, the team’s highest ranking since 2009. Atlanta News First sat down with Ryan Alpert, the school’s new athletic director, to talk about what he attributes to the success and what fans can expect at homecoming.
The buzz is there for the Yellow Jackets. Attendance at their football games is up 24 percent over this time last year, and the athletics’ social media accounts have reached nearly 70 million people.
The team will play against Syracuse on Saturday. Homecoming also includes the Mini-500, Freshman Cake Race, Wreck Parade and the Helluva Block Party featuring Dasha.
