ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — “Mary J. Blige Presents: Be Happy” premieres on Lifetime this weekend, telling the story of a mother’s reawakening at age 50.
Executive producer Mona Scott-Young came to Atlanta News First to talk about the movie, which marks the first film under Blige’s new deal with Lifetime. The network signed Blige for three new original films, extending a previous agreement in which she executive produced three original movies inspired by her music: “Real Love,” “Strength of a Woman” and “Family Affair.”
Scott-Young has an accomplished career in TV production. She’s the executive producer of the ever-popular “Love and Hip Hop” franchises and has produced tours for Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott and Ciara, all while managing various celebrities.
Scott-Young discussed her approach to attracting top-level talent — plus why it’s so important to work with Black women.
“Mary J. Blige Presents: Be Happy” premieres on Saturday on Lifetime at 8 p.m.
