ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar has been suspended for 162 games after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) for the second time in the last year, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday.

Profar, 33, was previously suspended for half of the 2025 season after testing positive for human chorionic gonadotropin.

Profar will now have to forfeit the entirety of his $15 million salary and will be ineligible for the postseason. He also will be ineligible for the upcoming World Baseball Classic, where he was set to represent the Netherlands under head coach Andruw Jones.

In a statement, the Braves said. “We were incredibly disappointed to learn that [Profar] tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance and is in violation of MLB’s Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Our players are consistently educated about the Program and the consequences if they are found to be in violation. The Atlanta Braves fully support the program.”

The Braves are already without right-handers Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep due to elbow injuries and are coming off a 76–86 campaign. Profar had been projected to serve as the primary designated hitter and bat near the top of the order.

He signed a three-year, $42 million deal last January but was suspended after the fourth game of the 2025 season. Upon returning in early July, Profar hit .245/.353/.434 with 14 home runs and 43 RBIs while playing left field.

The team signed Mike Yastrzemski in November, and he, Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuña Jr. will start in the outfield on most days. Eli White and Jorge Mateo are already on the roster as potential compliments.
