ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Atlanta Braves will face Team Colombia in an exhibition game on Wednesday, giving them a taste of international competition.
The game will be broadcast live on Gray Media.
Right-hander Elieser Hernández will take the bump for the Braves.
The World Baseball Classic officially kicks off Wednesday when Australia faces Chinese Taipei at 10 p.m. at the Tokyo Dome. Other WBC teams have been playing exhibition games against Cactus League and Grapefruit League opponents ahead of pool play, which continues Thursday with games in San Juan (Pool A), Houston (Pool B), Tokyo (Pool C) and Miami (Pool D).

Among Colombia’s roster is right-hander Julio Teheran, who pitched for the Braves from 2011-2019, posting a 3.67 ERA with 1,184 strikeouts over 1,360 innings for the club.
Trouble at DH
The Braves were off Tuesday, but news broke that outfielder Jurickson Profar is suspended for 162-games after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

The MLB Players Association is challenging the suspension, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Profar will forfeit his entire $15 million salary and be ineligible for the postseason as well as the World Baseball Classic, where he was slated to play for the Netherlands under head coach Andruw Jones.
All eyes now turn — once again — to Alex Anthopoulos and how he will address Profar’s absence at the designated hitter position, whether by leaning on the club’s depth, pursuing a free agent bat or exploring a potential trade. The team is already without pitchers Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep and will open the season without Ha-Seong Kim (hip) and Sean Murphy (hip). With Profar’s $15 million salary potentially coming off the books if the suspension is upheld, the Braves could have added financial flexibility to explore their options.
