Grand Canyon officials say South Rim drinking water is safe again after a chlorine equipment malfunction prompted a temporary boil water order. Park officials say a machine that adds chlorine to the drinking water broke down July 11. Staff stopped the affected water from reaching the South Rim and issued a temporary boil water order in impacted areas inside the canyon. Repairs have since been completed, and officials said Wednesday that visitors and residents no longer need to boil water. No immediate action is required. Infants, some older adults and people with severely compromised immune systems should consult a doctor about drinking water.
