Submerged car found with human remains in Scottsdale: What police know

A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office flight crew spotted the vehicle during a routine helicopter patrol last month. The car was submerged in a McCormick Ranch lake near Hayden and McCormick parkways. Divers recovered the vehicle and found human remains inside, authorities said. Scottsdale police say the registered owner is connected to a 2015 missing persons case out of New Mexico. The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm the victim’s identity.
